In the Women's Wednesday posts, I will share articles, movements, ideas, etc. that support and encourage women. While we have come along way in gender equality, there is still room for improvement. As a woman, I hope that you'll at least take a look at these articles. You don't have to agree with everything that I share, but I do think it's good to at least be aware of what's going on in the world around you.

Ban Bossy
From the Ban Bossy website:
"When a little boy asserts himself, he's called a 'leader.' Yet when a little girl does the same, she risks being branded “bossy.” Words like bossy send a message: don't raise your hand or speak up. By middle school, girls are less interested in leading than boys—a trend that continues into adulthood. Together we can encourage girls to lead."This initiative hits close to home; I served in leadership roles in high school, through college, and I hope to one day be a leader in the work place. I remember being referred to as bossy in high school. I didn't feel like I was being bossy, but I just thought I was doing what needed to be done as part of my leadership position. Being referred to as "bossy" didn't exactly make me feel good. It has such a negative connotation!
If you have a daughter or know someone who does, please take a minute to at least take a look at the Ban Bossy website.
